A Message from Verona Superintendent of Schools

“Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and diligence.”  Abigail Adams

The mission of the Verona Public Schools, in partnership with a supportive community, we inspire our students to be creative, critical thinkers and compassionate global citizens through dynamic teaching, meaningful curricula, and enriching experiences.

These words remain central to every decision we make as it conveys our shared commitment to our children. We are fortunate to have a devoted Board of Education, dedicated faculty and staff, highly engaged and motivated students, and supportive parents and community members. These are the key ingredients of an outstanding place for teaching and learning.

Verona Public Schools

A great place to learn…
A great place to work…
A great place to live.

Our strategic plan provides us with direction on what we value most as a community, including our mission statement, core values, and strategies that will guide us to achieve our goals. We recently completed revisions to our district strategic plan by way of active engagement from over 75 community members. We express our gratitude and appreciation to all of our volunteer stakeholders. The final Strategic Plan 2018-2023 may be viewed here.

We are also proud to share the second publication of the much anticipated
Verona Public Schools Magazine 2018 Edition . This compilation is a testament to all that is amazing, alive, and well in the Verona Public Schools. I encourage you to take some time over the next several weeks to read the incredible efforts of our staff and the progress our schools continue to make to support superb teaching and valuable learning in our classrooms.

I would like to extend my gratitude on behalf of the entire district to our VHS Senior Capstone students acknowledged in this publication. Their dedication and creativity brought this publication to life. I would also like to share a special thank you to all of the contributors and VHS staff, Mrs. McKelvey-McLaughlin and Mrs. Sciacchitano, for their unending support and leadership that made the Verona Public Schools magazine possible.

We have been busy this summer in preparation for another successful school year. Beautification of our schools, both inside and out, is nearly complete, as we get ready for our students on the first day of school.

We are extremely pleased with our progress and the positive momentum we have accomplished together. I continue to be in awe of the strength of our community, always striving toward working together in the best interests of our children. Verona is a very special place we all get to call home. We should never take that for granted. Please join me in continuing to make it the very best for each and every child.

Wishing you and your families a wonderful new year.
